Stung Yellow Tang?
So tonite as i was walking past my tank i saw that my Yellow tang of a good 8 months was not looking so good, not swimming or eating, just getting pushed around in the current. I quickly did a water test to find nothing out of the ordinary. Has anyone ever had a tang get stung by an anenome? I do have 5 little anemones, frogspawn and a big piece of bubble coral. could the spawn or bubble have stung him? Any other ideas of what i could do to save my fishy friend? Thanks for your help

I dont see the bubble, frogspawn doing that to him. The anemones maybe, I have never seen that happen before either.
If you have a quarantine tank now would be the time to use it. Otherwise the fish could keep getting stung and die from it or stress. I know anemones sting will paralyze its prey so it can eat, but I am not sure how a average sized tang would react to this. It also matters how long the tank was being stung and where. Hopefully someone else knows a little more about this. |

What kind of anemones are they? I would think that a Yellow Tang wouldn't get stung that hard by the majority of anemones, and even the stronger stinging ones would have made him dinner before letting him go.
And no way was it the Frogspawn or the Bubble Coral, I have never heard of either of these stinging fish. I would look into water perameters or disease... |
