My Aquac is messeeeeed UP!

I have an aquac and had it running for 3 weeks collecting foam it was working awesome. About 5 days ago the skimmer stopped collecting foam and now the first chamber is only half filled with foam, its not producing enough foam. Any advice?

Here are the changed my tank has gone through in these last few days. Added chaeto and did a 7.5 gallon water change.

I'm not familiar with that particular skimmer, but perhaps your pump intake is clogged -- maybe by loose strands of Chaeto? I'd pull the skimmer and the pump out and give it a good cleaning.

Other things, even (or so I've read) the natural oils from your hands can cause a skimmer to stop producing for a little while.

Clogged is a possibility: use a plastic mesh screen to keep cheato from reaching your skimmer pump. Also check your skimmer pump's impeller to make sure it's going.

I have one and have never had this happen: sometimes you get too much water, but never too little.

Try a stiff fine wire to check whether intakes are clogged.

I used to run one but found it to be tempermental. It needed adjustments, in my experience, frequently. I cleaned it regularly but found it to be just too big a PITA.

Don't get me wrong, when it worked (which was most of the time) it did a great job, foamed like crazy, pulled out some nasty stuff.

I'd pull it out and clean it completely then start again and adjust as needed. I used to keep the water level just below where the tube comes out of the black box. That's what worked best for me.

Good Luck.

The water level should be at the very top of the "black box." If there's foam in that section of the skimmer, the water level isn't high enough and so just adjust it so that the water level get to where it's supposed to be.

All adjusted correctly. Called aquac customer service today and talked to mike. My skimmer all up to par the only thing he said is that since it is a new tank the bioload may not be big enough for the skimmer to collect. The first 3 weeks he mentioned it probably picked up stuff because new tank etc... So no Im going to add more fish and hopefully it willstart kicking in i only have 2 clowns and a cuc and shrimp
