....Tongs, Jeffs, RC, Octopus Garden, Goldfish world, AW, Pet Kingdom, Fish collection, um.. Basically anything we can think of when we go to la.. and so far hahah out of all my searching I found one piece..and it was pure dumb luck.. as they called it a Blastomusa the only place I know that has one is Tongs, and they refuse to sell it.

I can just tell from the flesh. Other similar acans are harder to tell such as hillae and bowerbanki. The ones familiar to the trade, enchinata, lordhowenis, and rotundaflora are all very easy (at least for me) to tell apart. It might have something to do with me researching/hunting them down day and night for like 2-3 months though hehe.

I have gotten all of mine through hobbyists. I have never seen one available at a store. I know of a few cali guys who have gotten them for chicken scratch in cali mis identified as blastos.

I don't know about mis-identified corals anymore. Someone informed the owner of Reef Collection that he indeed had a acanthastrea on his hands. Surely enough, the coral sold for $750 instead of the price of a blasto. Would I have been honest to let him know?...We will never know...
Honestly, since I know and like Frank, I would have told him, but would have gotten him to frag a piece of it off at a special price...hehehe |
