Tek T5 fixure. How hot does it get?

I am thinking about running a 6 bulb over my 46 gallon bowfront tank, I am just wondering how hot these unit get because there is no fan or anything. How much heat does it produce compared to a halide?

My 6 bulb is 4in from the water. I don not use a shield. I see a 2 degree increase with 6 lights running for 6 hours. IMO, they don't run hot/

So is it ok to run without a splash guard? Do you use any type of fan?

there is no problem with no splash guard. If you do use one. It will increase your temp and your bulbs will lose life and par. If you want a spalsh guard, I would go with another fixture, with a built in fan

I have a four lamp. It don't get hot and i use a splash guard. Scotmc is right about the lamps getting hot and loosing life. I just prefer to clean the acrylic instead of cleaning everything individually.
