no skip on the dragonet they need way more live rock than you can put in a 29 gal, however you should put some live rock in anyway

On that small a tank, I wouldn't recommend a dragonet. I found mine difficult to sustain long-term in a 58 [1 year +] with lots of live rock, etc. Eventually, when I've got a mature 120 I'll try another ... but I don't want to doom another and have it end up starving.

Otherwise, I really like the advice quoted below.

What fish/inhabitant do you want most?
Plan it all around that - and likely you'll have a good mix of fish that are out, about, and acting natural in your tank.
I'd suggest stocking slowly, and planning to add the last fish a year from now. IME, less fish = easier to take care of tank, less stress = more active and visible fish.
It's easy to keep adding until problems happen, but a lot more successful when you don't.

So, for example, if your ultimate goal is "my tank must have a dwarf lionfish", then plan around that. Rule out anything that is not directly ideal with keeping a dwarf lionfish. In my limited experience, most of my decisions that did not involve tons of planning and research have typically resulted in wasted $$$.

A 29g tank is far too small for a dragonet to be a good gamble, IMO.

Do you plan on corals?

If so, I'd be very wary about a dwarf angel, esp in a small tank.

There are a lot of reports of issues [esp after time] with dwarf angels in coral tanks.

If I wanted LPS-type corals [brains, frogspawn, bubble] ... I'd be wary with nipping fish and avoid them altogether. For me, the corals are the focus of my reef tanks and anything that isn't required and may cause a problem I do my best to avoid.

If it was a reef tank, and me ... I wouldn't. Others do, but I wouldn't.

That's a lot for a 30g tank, IMO. I would probably stop at 4, although your plan might work.

You could also consider firefish, they don't get too big and they are colorful.
