I run my sps tank @ 79 , I do let it range from 77 to 81 but never higher than 81. I feel this way give's me a little flex, if something were to happen, no issues!!!

ALRIGHT STEVE I GET IT haha just kidding.

Most people try to keep it a bit lower, personally I am 80-81, but your situation should be fine. IMO, what is more important is monitoring your alkalinity and adjusting your dosing to maintain constant levels as you stock the tank with corals.

Any tropical/subtropical corals will be fine at that temp. That's around the temp range that corals from nearer the equator see during winter, or about spring and fall weather for corals near the fringes of reef development.

That's pretty chilly. That shouldn't actually harm most critters, but don't expect them to grow much either

By PC do you mean you are using power compacts for lighting?

I try to keep mine at 80, but 78-82 is its normal swings, and 76-85 have been brief peaks, with no adverse effects, here see for yourself...

Now pH, thats a different bug of mine

There is no difference in lighting requirements between "sps" and "lps"--some need bright light and some need dimmer light
