chaeto growth

Ive had 2 handfull size balls of chaeto in my refugium for about 2 months now. I use the bulb that is from Melevs Site, and do a reverse photoperiod on it. Both balls of chaeto have barely and i mean barely grown at all in 2 months. What is my issue? What would cause this?

my chatoe didn't grow for the first 2 or three months at all and i thought something was wrong also. but after that time period growth exploded. this is a pic about 4 months back when i thought something was wrong and it wasn't growing. now the tank is about 85% chatoe

Sometimes it can take a little while for chaeto to settle in and grow. It might also be a nutrient problem, if there isn't enough nutrients in the tank for the chaeto to grow then it won't. But I do think it is a little strange that you haven't experienced any growth yet. The chaeto not growing in't going to do anything bad to the tank, so thats a plus. The light that melev recommends is a good light and will grow chaeto, so you have that done. How is the flow through the refuge? Water going too quickly or too slowly might impact the growth of the chaeto.

How big is the refuge? How wide is it? If there is too much flow I could see the macro not growing as well as it could.
