Alicia- I picked it up at a local store. They had another piece that was slightly larger that was not for sale. I was glad to pick this one up.

Greg- I swear your "inverted watermelon eye" looks just like my piece. I just need to take a better picture.

I got that frag from tacocat. It's definitly one of my favorites. BTW, tacocat has now named that piece the "Mummy Eye." Here is a pic of his original colony.

That was the only pic I have of it. I have made a few changes to the lighting in the tank and duting this time the tank has been getting minimal light. Once things color back up I will once again be inspired to break out the camera for some top down pics.

That picture looks more like it. 'Mummy Eye"? That is interesting.

greg, i only have one other chalice to compare its growth to but i'd say its a medium paced grower. the coral itself is a brighter pink but i couldn't capture the angle .

Where do you place your bazooka? High, low, mid? Great color.

I like Pumpkin Patch as well, seems most appropriate but, as Brian pointed out to me, there are a few "Pumpkin" names already out there...very few sports names. Still, I vote for Pumpkin Patch. Super nice picture Greg.

d4a2n0k, Nice frag. Live Aquaria has that strawberry one I have always liked as well. Nice big, healthy frags from Live Aquaria. Good score .

slojmn-Thanks. Live Aquarias frags do cost more than others but you get the 30 day guarantee and their frags are bullet proof, they can take a beating. I have a number of SPS frags from them and theyve been through hell these past few months with algae growing all over them. Ive been having some problems.....

This was labeled as a Watermelon Chalice which it obviously isnt.

I just purchased one of these at my LFS. I'm not sure where to place it in my tank to get the best color. It's a bit dull looking right now...looks kinda like a cup coral. My light fixture has 2-150W halides and 2-96W PC Atinics. The tank is 21" deep. Some sites recommend to place it at the bottom of a tank with halides and others recommend high light. What do those of you with one of these corals recommend?
