what type of tang?

Henry, and all, hello.

I bought this tang -- photo attached (sorry for the blur but he's a fast guy). He's quite small (maybe 3.5 inches from nose to tail), so is a juvenile.

He was sold to me as from the Indo Pacific and of the Genus Ctenochaetus ("like a yellow eyed Kole.")

But I'm wondering if he's not of the Genus Acanthurus (perhaps nigroris -- given the black dot at the start of his tail fin, or even nigrofuscus as I've seen several of those coloured much like this guy)?

It's only important in as much that I hope to add another tang to my aquarium and want to avoid the same types of tangs -- assuming that will assist with mitigating aggression.

Thanks for your help.

steve

appears to be a bristletooth, maybe c. stiatus or c. binotatus. related to the kole and chevron tangs. good for "smaller" tanks. great for reefs. could be acanthurus though. a. nigrofuscus dont usually have the stripes but as u said , it is a juv. i go c. binotatus

Yah, good call on the c. binotatus, hadn't run across that one in my searching. Okay, today he's a Ctenochaetus again
