I personally haven't owned a pair, but I've thought about getting a female. I know many who have successfully kept pairs together for years.

The hardest thing is often finding a female. You might have to have a store special-order one for you. At least here in the states many stores don't get them in because they look a little bland. Really the only reason to get a female is to have a pair.
