As far as businesses go.... seahorsesource.com sells captive bred seahorses. They have a stellar reputation and their horses are very healthy.

There are also quite a few hobbyist-breeders offering their offspring for sale if you search the dedicated seahorse websites.

Recent experience... I recently bought a male H. reidi from seahorsesource. I do know one of the owners, who started out as a hobbiest before initiating the business. However, this was my first purchase. The seahorse came packed great, price and shipping was reasonable, service great, animal thriving.

I prefer to buy directly from a breeder - either from a business like seahorsesource or from a hobbiest with a good reputation.

Agree.... Draco was a great place. Unfortunately, Draco is now out of business as of a week or two ago.

I just purchased four Reidi from seahorsesource.com about 10 days ago and they all are doing well. I e-mailed them some questions about the seahorses and they told me they were imported CB. So far I'm very happy with my order but the imported CB has me a little worried.

If you are concerned, I would call or e-mail with your questions. IME, CB imported are fine if they are from reputable breeders and if they are handled properly once they get to the US. Ask seahorsesource about how they insure the fish are healthy before shipping. I don't know their QT or medication procedures, but I know enough about their operation to believe they do things right.
