What do you think of the aquascaping on my new 150g?
I just got this setup yesterday. I transfered everything from my old 50g fowlr(and a few corals) This tank has a 90g sump in the basemen t. I still have work to do on the tank like add more lighting and a new skimmer and some other things. I am debating on making this a reef or a fowlr. Fish are my first love but I do like corals. Tell me what you think?

The live rock is arranged very nicely!

I would remove some rock (especially the ones that do not look like LR or look out of place)

I think the big open area on the left will be too shady, nothing will grow there and it will remain empty. I'd add more shelf rocksint that area and build it up. Otherwise I think it will fill in nice.

I might place a LR in front of the plumbing in the center...

looks very nice and neat scaping setup, fish gonna love it.
what's the orange spots on the left side of the first pic? I also have a 150G upgraded from a 60G just over 1/2 year. you should have a skimmer asap though. |

I agree about the plumbing needing to be covered. I tried several different things but couldn't get anything stable that didn't lean on it. I am hoping in time that it will be come covered with coralline and other stuff and it won't be as noticeable.
I agree about the skimmer also. That is my next investment as well as improved lighting. Was running out of money so had to make do with I had. The open area on the left is for big fish to hang out in. I plan on putting some kind of large angel as well as a trigger of some sort and I want them to have some kind of cove. If I go reef there won't be any corals underneath there.

What do you have on top of your baffle seperating your fuge from the sump?

I like the Aquascaping, depending on how stable it is of course!!
I take it thats a light suspended over the sump? I would probably change that somehow.. maybe even hang it with chains, or something,, I'd hate for that to fall in the tank!!! |

Wow I love the aquascaping, all those caves are awesome, it looks really natural. I think it would make a really good reef.

I am talking about what looks like metal grate in the tank itself? Is it plastic?

The rocks are pretty stable. I used epoxy to hold alot of the shelf ones together.
