Please help with T5 retro wiring
Ok, i decided to try and do a t5 retro and am now very confused. i got the kit from reef geek, it has a VS ballast and ice cap endcaps/standoffs.
question #1 - the power cord has 3 wires( black, white, green) the green one has an eyelet on it. at the end of the ballast it has connections for the black and white, but where does the green go? also it says to ground ballast case, how do i do that, i was gonna screw it to the stand. my other question is how the heck do you connect the wires to the endcap? thanks for any help, it will be greatly appreciated. |

Cut the eyelet off of the green wire and put it into the ground slot. If its the same type I have the three power wires will not be solid wire so make sure to really twist them before you put them in so they will hold. To put the wires in the end caps just push them in to the bottom. There is a left and a right slot on each one. Let me know if you have any more questions.
I edited this to say I didn't realize you said there was only two slots on the ballast. Mine has three. I am not sure where you should ground it. I would imagine grounding it to a wood stand would not be the best option though. |

ok, i'm an idiot, the instructions were tucked inside the box with the bulbs. in hte instructions they say to screw the green wire to the case instead of cutting it off, is one way better than the other?

The green wire is the grounding wire--screw it to the case like it says.

Screw it in, don't cut it off.
