Attaching an Ocean Runner 3500 to ASM G2 skimmer

I want to swap out my Sedra 3500 that I hate even with the mesh mod to an Ocean Runner 3500. However I have a couple questions as I am unfamiliar with these pumps.

1. What does the prop look like? Can mesh be added to it or do I need to spend the extra money to get the 3700 just to hack it up for the mesh mod?

2. Is it possible to even hookup and OR to an ASM? Does the pump only come with hose barb attachments?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Jeff

I modded an OR 2700. While I do think the OR is a great pump, IMO there are better pumps for the meshmod. The ORs have a relatively small impeller chamber and many, including myself, have had problems with the modded pumps starting reliably.

Also, I think you might consider the 2700 on the G2. The 3500 may pull a bit too much air for that size body.? Ask Kentrob. I pull 11LPM on a similarly-sized skimmer and I wouldn't want much more...

it is very easy to meshmod the 3700 impeller. You an actually remove the first two pinwheels without destroying them so they could be reattached later if you wanted.

shelburn,

Thanks. I'll check with Kentrob to see if there is a better pump out there to do the mesh mod on.

Here's an OR 2700 that I had laying around from a Turboflotor 1000 that I hated. I mounted it recirc style to my ASM-G3. I have no experience with the larger OR 3500. I think that the 3500 may be too much for the G2, but don't quote me on that.

How is it running with the OR vs the Sedra? Have you tried the mesh mod yet?

I'm running both the OR2700 and the Sedra 3500 on the G3 body. I've always had good luck with the Sedra and with the OR running the foam is insane. The skimmer is on a newer tank though, so I probably won't be getting much in the way of skimmate for some time though.
