Tips for Handling Telemarketers

Caller ID and Answering machines work great for screening telemarketers. Don't companies realize this is a business model that's time has passed?

just pick up the phone and scream as loudly into the phone as possible for as long as possible. i havent gotten a call in 2 years.

from the original post, the second item, i doubt it will kick your number out of the system but you might get access to the system...

i have fun with phone ho's

if their english is really really bad, and the accent is really really thick, i ask what continent they are on... if its not north america i explain that im really interested in talking with them and they should call me back from somewhere in north america...

if they are taking survey questions... i stop them, and tell them that we take survey questions at a rate of $1 per , and if they have the time to provide billing information i have the time to answer their questions...

that one has gotten one immediate call back and half a billing address..


i once told the people hired to collect for the police mens fund that my daddy was in jail... they ask for my mother... grrr take a hint

then you can stop the persons intro and ask for a supervisor and tell them what a great job the person was doing and end the call

with people trying to sell satellite tv call, i ask them what the name of the company that pays them is called,... i usually get something like ' we are selling dishnetwork and direct tv' then i go on about not asking about what they were doing, but who they worked for... 'the name of the company who cuts your check' so far no takers on that one...

If you give it to them, you just established a 'relationship' with them and they can now call you. Thats why I always refuse to give my phone number, or just give them a bogus number.
