Plumbing

Here are a few pictures taken as the plumbing was being finished up. Getting closer to getting the tank finished and ready for delivery.

goodwin, not having the rainbow modules vertical may be problematic when you open the top to access the cartridges/media. These unit at this size hold a lot of water internally. I use to use 2 80 wat uvs on my pond and 4 of the cartridge mods for my tank cleaning business in the 90s. The only thing I can think of is to have a bucket ready underneath the caps when you open. Of course you will need ball valves to shut the flow to/from the mod unit. Just my thoughts from experience with rainbow mods.

Also, I see you are using what appears to be panworld pumps. Dandy7200 did a complete thread on how to quiet these pumps down even more. Might search for it under panworld pump or dandy7200. I have pulled the rear fan cover off the back of my panworld and it helps substantially. These pumps are already pretty darn quiet. There is also a thread somewhere on RC where someone provided a video/audio comparison between the panworld and the ikawi, I think. The difference is noticible, with the panworld being much quieter.

There is a drain valve below the canisters shown in the 4th picture. There is a valve to shut off flow to the pump also.

Finally

The tank finally showed up after a 4" snow. Lots of fun trying to get it moved in.

can't wait to see this tank in person. glad you are less then 1hr away. if you ever need help let me know!

interesting way the bracing was put together. i've usually seen it out of one sheet but i suppose on the big tanks that can't be done costeffectively so pieced togehter bracing works fine.

never heard of that tank building company. do they have a website

keep posting pics and let me know if you need help

Here are a few more pictures from yesterday as we moved the tank and stand into the house.

A tight fit, but everything made it through the door.

Hard part was getting the tank down the stairs.

Here are a few pictures from the setup. First problem was the over head ductwork which made it tough to get all of the pipes through the overflows.

Then it was time to set all of the pieces of the puzzle back in place and get everything hooked back together. I thought that Franz did a great job on the canister cradle. This allowed the use of the largest Lifeguard filters and were able to fit them under the stand and still be able to service them.

Before anything could be powered up, need to get some power to the tank. Come to find out there isn't enough room in the panel to hook up the tank. So now I need a new panel to supply enough power to the system.

So now I should have enough with 4 dedicated 20 amp circuits at the tank.

More pictures

Here are a few more pictures from the first day and night setting up the new tank.

Here is a picture of the chiller return pump. and the return pump for the phos ban reactor, sand filters and refugium, portion of that return also feeds the tank.

Installing trim work on the tank and stand.

Placing the nozzles on the returns in the tank.

The pieces have all been put back together and things have fallen into place for the most part.

Awesome creation! Your fish/corals will thank you.

I use the Lifeguard filters (chem, mechanical, uv, heater) on my little 50 gallon and couldn't be happier.

I'd be interested in your feedback on these Lifeguards, please!

What kind of lighting are you going to use?

This system uses the 29" canisters, 2 -mechanical, 2 - chemical, and 2 - 40 watt UV's. Filtration loop is powered by a Blue Line 100 pump.

I think that they work great, I have them running on 5 of my other tanks.
