Now that's just showing off (kidding

But really, anybody know how big of a generator I need to run my pumps and heaters? Or how I figure out the startup wattage for my pumps?

From what I've found 5000w is reccomended as a min backup for a house, but what about a reef? would 2-3000w be good?

thanks

"Whew"

My wife states she would know how to compete with another woman but not a reef tank. Maybe we will meet sometime at a "Reefers Anonymous" meeting. Again "Awesome" & as they say in "Reefers Anonymous" thanks for sharing.

IMO you could get a 2000 watt and it would be fine for the pumps. If it draws too much don't put the lights on.

Colman has an 1850W I have it and I use it to run a buffer and a shop vac at the same time with min power loss to eather. It even enough to run my carpet extractor with the heat on but the heat dosn't get super hot, this is the same unit that will throw a 20A breaker in a house if both plugs are on the same curcuit

I have a 2500 Watt Honda generator, that I'd like to get rid of, sitting in my garage. It was purchased in '98 but it was never used. After I moved into my new house in '00 I bought a 5000 Watt generator because it provides 220V output, which my 2.5KW Honda doesn't provide.

Anyway, is anybody interested in this 2500W Honda generator?

Another option (but a bit pricey) is the Honda EU series generators. Small, lightweight, and very quiet. Very portable (I sometimes use one as a portable power source for electric gardening tools and power tools).

I have anEU1000. It can run all day at 900W, 1000W for short periods.

It can run all my pumps (including large Iwaki's), and heaters, but not my main lighting.
