Yeah I know but my buddy was gonna just toss it so I took it and maybe the clown would take up residence! I just dont think he will make it in my 12g nano so I may try to find it a new home? I have stock lighting (48 watts)?

Its going to be very difficult in a tank that size and with that lighting, I'd say don't do it. Instead of tossing it, see if your LFS will take it for store credit.
