Question Joes juice?

I would like to know everyones opinion on how affective joes juice is on aptasia? If there is a better option I would also like to know that! I also will say that I tried peppermint shrimp and they did nothing and my tiger watchman goby likes to eat shrimp! I think I got an angry goby but the shrimp seem to be his arch enemy! Thanks for any help!

Joe's juice works great for me. The only time I have to apply a second aplication is if the aiptasia retracts before it gets blasted. Other then that I'll continue to use it.

I tried feeding it to mushroom corals (Actinodiscus) and Xenia, and neither were harmed. I wouldn't let Joe's Juice sit on the coral in any case, though.

I had the same problem. I used Joe's and it killed the aptaisia in the first application. The surrounding zoas were definitely irritated but none died.

Cool thanks for the help! Yes my goby eats them I watched him grab one and rip its head off and eat it! Then the serpent star ate the rest! I know it seems that they are starving but I overfeed them by most standards but I also do like 30-40% water changes a week! I dont know... like I said I think my goby is really angry or retarded not sure which?

all i used was a bit of vinegar and a syringe. stab the aptasia and shoot a few mls into it. shrivel up like a prune in seconds. plus nothing else gets affected by the vinegar

I'm sure Joe's Juice works, but I just used some Ms. Wages pickling lime that I made into a paste with water. Injected it into the aiptasia and it was gone within 5 minutes. Good luck!

I've used kalk with excellent results, and you can't get much cheaper than getting some pickling lime from the grocery store (assuming you can find it). Walmart sells the stuff for $3-4 per pound. Anyway, just mix it with just enough water to make it nice and runny. Then I use a small syringe with a very thin tip and zap away. 100% success rate so far on at least a dozen aptasia, and no ill effects on anything nearby.

Vinegar would obviously be a pretty cheap option as well. I haven't tried it personally.

Joes Juice works just as it claims. I have seen no adverse reactions from any of my corals/mushrooms. I have never tried the peppermint shrimp remedy, but my LFS contact says they do work. BUT one has to refrain from feeding the tank for a few days to "starve" them into feeding on the pesky anemones.

Works well for me as well. I would be sure to eliminate flow when you
apply it with the little syringe. I screwed up shot it into an aptasia than watched some of it blow on my Zoa's. the half that got hit
have dissapeared and the ones that remain are not looking to good yet. I hope they recover.....
