Questions re: your 11/20/05 presentation?

Anthony,

Thanks so much for your great presentation this weekend. Your style is both very entertaining and educational. Also, so sorry about the time issue (we as a club s**K about time managment sometimes).

Two follow up questions;

1. I think there was some confusion. Did you say that when cutting anemone's it seems better (at this time at least) to include a part of the mouth, or you don't need to worry about including the mouth parts?
(If I recall correctly, you said with certain LPS it's not necessary to include mouth parts in fragging attempts, but with anemones it seems like it's better to cut across the mouth but you didn't state that with absolute certanity)
There was a thread discussing your talk on the BRS website and I think you were more or less misquoted so I was hoping to check with you to clarify.

2. Can you offer any additonal thoughts or links/references on Ozone reaction chamber design? You mentioned PVC with Carbon on the air and water outlets but I was a little unclear on the specifics of how this should be set up. I couldn't find anything in the propogation handbook.

Thanks again,

jk

cheers, my friend.

No worries... it really was a fab time. I throughly enjoyed the time in Boston before, during and after the event with club members and friends.

As for the anemones... yes, unlike most cnidarians we propagate which do not require part of the "mouth," I feel presently that it is best to hedge your bets when cutting BTA, LTA and Sebae/malu anemones to make a simple bilateral division which includes part of the mouth. I mention these anemones by name as not only best bets, but as some of the very few anemones IMO that are even remotely sustainable (wild collection and aquarium suitability long term)

As for the "ozone reacter"... its literally as simple as stated: capped PVC tube that has an effluent tee for water and a vent atop. Used skimmers serve this purpose very well.

Have you seen the big ozone thread stickied in the top threads of this forum? Good summary.

kindly,

Anthony
