Perc's and maroons in the same tank???

A while ago I started a thread asking if this was possible. Everyone who responded said no way.

I reccently visited a 180G set up with a pair of maroons and a pair of percs living together without problems. They hang out within 12" of each other and show no aggression. They have been living together for 6 years.

Anyone have any comments or experiences like this????

Any input appreciated.

I'm assuming that the reason why there isn't a problem is the fact that it is a 180G setup. There is enough space for neither to infringe on the other's territory. Also the relative size of one of the clowns to the other is important.

The clown pairs are similar sized, the maroons being a hair larger as a pair. The two pairs live within 1 foot of each other.

Maybe they got used to each other at a greater distance and moved closer over time, but the fact remains, they live right next to each other without problems. I'm wondering if anyone else has seen something similar?

Kinda sounds like the maroons haven't fully matured. I've seen full grown percs and full grown maroons the difference is a lot more than a hair.

I have a paired up ocellaris and true perc. and I also have a GSM. The paired up oc/perc host my mushrooms and the GSM hosts 2 BTA. I never see them mess with each other more than normal - i.e. during feeding, etc. The pair mind their own business and never bother anything. They are friendly and nip at my fingers and will almost let me "pet" them. I will say this... the pair was introduced first and then the GSM since GSM's seem to be more aggressive. All clowns are tank-raised.

That sounds like a good point, Mature maroon females are a lot larger than mature percs. According to the person keeping the tank both pairs have been in there together for 6 years?

To the people who have some combination together, how long have they been together?
