Everyone probably has a bunch of these in their tanks. They multiply faster than rabbits.

They are sort of "snails on a half-shell." The shell is just like a little cap that only protects the center of their body, leaving the fringe exposed. Like Zooid says, you can probably get some from anyone with a tank. They don't get much bigger than your thumbnail.

HTH,

Brad

You probably will get some in on live rock that you buy. The problem is that they live in the holes/crevasses and usually only come out when the lights go out. You may not see them until they come on again and then only for a couple of minutes.

And that's why I love the little things. I have a 180g in my basment that started out with nothing but about 20 lbs of rock.....I set it up sepecifically to breed stomatella and DIBS turbos, I've got quite a few stomatella in there right now.

I had hundreds of them (some really good sized) in my rock curing tank. Then I added a small six line wrasse (only fish) and now I seem to have none...they aren't well protected.

I've seen all the commonly kept shrimps eat Stomatella. Here's a peppermint shrimp nabbing one that stayed in the open too long.
(Before the peppermint could finish it's breakfast a scarlet cleaner stole the Stomatella.)

Where are you in CO. I live in Highlands Ranch and could spare a half dozen or so if you would like.
