Rhizotrochus care, and is this bleached?

Is this Rhizotrochus bleached?

Is this coral photosynthetic or does it need to be fed meaty foods like a dendro does 2 survive?

Rizos are pretty much non-photosynthetic. You need to feed it ever day to every few days. Also, yours looks really bleached, keep it in the shade and feed its small meaty pieces every day or so for awhile. Good luck.

that might not be bleaching. some could very well be that color or lack of color. is that the only one in the tank? can you compare it to any others that the owner has? just like any other coral there are tons of color variation.

They're not photosynthetic and it's not bleached. Pretty much of the rhizos coming in right now from Australia are that color.
Here's a pic of mine after a nice meal of chopped jumbo shrimp. Pic was taken at night with flash. They're not nearly open as muchd during the daytime. Mine wasn't with those imported from Australia.

Isnt it illegal to ship corals from Australia?

Viper is right on

There seems to be a major influx of Australian corals on the market right now (much of Roe's new high end stuff if from there, for example). I heard somewhere that they relaxed a national law that is allowing for a large number of once prohibited exports to flow out of the country. The captive reef (not that I would shop there since I am so lucky to be in the same city as darklordcoral) is boasting of an upcoming shipment from Australia that includes Weedy Sea Dragons.

I think you just might have caught it at a bad time. I saw her feed them on Sat when I was there and it looked just like the pic above. Then I asked the price... cough cough. If I could afford it & keep it from my wife I would!

Also they're not always fully open during the daytime.

www.aquaticbliss.com (sponsor here) has two for $425 right now. They're a whole lot more colorful than the other plain white ones being sold right now. I got mine from them.
