Thank goodness for my basement sump...

...we had a windstorm last night, temps in the 20's.

We didn't completely shut our front door after getting the mail. It blew open and stood wide open all night during the windstorm and snow, the tank being about 10 feet from said door.

Thanks to the fact the sump is in a temperature-stable basement, with a heater, the tank temp only got to 76. It wasn't good...but it could have been a lot worse.

It was at least too cold out for sensible burglars.

Definitely a help in temperature stabilization. I love this arrangement.

It's nice hearing the "good news stories" instead "of I lost everything".

I completely agree..........if the sump had not been in the basement there definitely would have been a high casualty rate.

I have a question though (I grew up in Colorado so I know how bitter a 20 degree wind can be). How on earth did you sleep through that temp dip in your house???

Lotsa blankets and a 106 degree Siamese cat who dives under the blankets when it gets really cold. I like my bedroom cold at night, but even I thought maybe we really should have left the heat on last night. [I'm real glad we normally cut it off at night.]
