Personally I'd have the skimmer befroe the fuge.
That way there's less rubbish for the fuge to take out of the water... Just my 2c... |

I posted a similar question earlier today. I had two sump designs. the first one was similar to yours and based on the feed back i got, i opted to go with the second design. here is the link so you can see for yourself:

Either will work IMO, but the only thought that I have is if you don't already have the QO1200 pump would be to reconsider. I had one (don't remember the size) when I started and it would periodically not start up right away when I plugged it in. One day I came home and my CL wasn't running. The power had gone out during the day and the pump didn't start when the power came back on. It ended up melting the case and wrecking the pump. This was a couple years ago and I replaced it with a MAG Drive 1200 which has been a super pump for me.
