Hammer detaching from skeleton
Our hammer has just started having "heads" detach from the skeleton. It's grown from a head on two branchs- to 3 large branches with approximately 8 heads on each - looks like a califlower when all opened up. In the last three weeks we've lost 4 "heads". Captured the last one in a cup and have it sitting on the bottom of the tank. The captured one (others disapeared in the live rock) is opening up and appears healthy.
Water quality is good according to my husband. Assuming this isn't normal? Any ideas on what is causing this? Thanks! |

Recheck your calcium, alk, and phosphates. What you are going through is called polyp bail out. Usually indicates poor water chemistry.
