Odontodactylus japonicus?
Makin' Waves (www.mknwaves.com) claims to have "Colored Mantis Shrimp (Odontodactylus japonicus) on sale. Anyone know about this species? It's not on Roy's List. They're "cheap" -- $20.
I'm not after another mantis right now, just curious. Thanks, Dan |

I tried to find something about it on the web and had no luck either? Maybe it's a misprint??? 20 bucks is pretty cool though.

I searched for it online and this picture came up, not sure how accurate it is though.

Not a misprint. O. japonicus is a real species that is found deeper than O. scyllarus and gets almost as big. I have never seen one alive. I emailed them and asked for a photo. We'll see.

I assume that you are still recieving the mantis? Latirostris still seems like a great aquarium species.
