3 Clams for $2200.00 They need a home people!

Look at what I found:

Blue Squamosa #1 $1000.00

Blue Squamosa #2 $800.00

Maxima $400.00

The bad thing is that you need to buy them in conjunction with another clam. They will not be sold alone.

ya that is a crazy price. guess they figured since they sold the last one for 500.00 in a minute that thye could double the price this time.

i mean my blue squammie is about 6" and i would never think of asking a grand for it. come on. its like the acan lords all over again. lol

Agreed, nice clams but no spectacular colors or anything. Way over the top prices!

These places see blue and $$$ signs go off in their heads.

WHEW!, glad to see the clam guys aren't quite as gullible as the LPS people lol. whenever you see prices double in a week like that you can be absolutely certain that the wholesale price hasn't changed a penny. As reefkeepers we have a responsibility not to commercialize living creatures, yes blue squamies are rare but they aren't DIAMONDS folks :-P

Move the decimal over to the left one on all of those and I think you're closer to a good price.

Yeah, but if they'll hear how much people in America are paying for them, they'll jump in the water and swim to America with the clam in their hand!

eastcoastzigzag,

Its the combination of the color and the pattern that makes then expensive. Blue Squamosas are rare colored clams. Most squamosas that we see are either brown with a hint of green or brown with a blue edge or a combination of the three. Squamosas that are that blue in color are rarely imported, that's why the price tag is so high. They are now being farm raised in Bali but they are having trouble importing them due to no CITES on them. Hope this clears things up a bit.

Pete
