Noisy Octopus NW150...with coarse bubbles Please help...

Not sure what is going on. Was water testing my sump and figured I'd test out my NW150 but is seems noisy and the bubbles are very coarse...I am using very low salinity water
(not sure if that makes a difference)..I've read that they take a while to produce skimate but I thought the bubbles and flow should be the same right off the start. Very frustrated at this point.

Thanks for any replies...

Brian

protien skimmers do not work in fresh water, so i f your salinity is low enough im pretty sure thats whats causing your "coarse" bubbles. To put you at ease try the skimmer in a typical salinity tank if you can. Im sure it will work fine. Might not work at optimal level because it has to break in, but im sure it will have finer bubbles like its suposed to.

still noisy but hoping that is will quiet a bit once things slim up a little?

Thanks again
