Rocks all done (bit of touching up to do "in tank")

Next step is to put it in the tank and silicone in position (enough silicone to hold it but not so much i can easily cut it to remove the bits easily)

Useful pic for anyone with no vison

Couple up close:

Cant see from this angle but the island has a big tang size hole through its centre

Lots of swimming room and sand bed space for LPS to sit on:

Next step.....display hardware - vortechs and halides

Mike,

My Tiggsy account has been given a lifetime ban - luckily these Americans are far nicer anyway

The foam is bog standard DIY expanding foam from B&Q or similar and the resin is "finishing resin" from a model shop - but its the same stuff used for making fiberglass - it goes on very runny so is perfect for this, i just paint it on with a kids paint brush (pack of 50 brushes for £5 at Toys R Us!)

Mike, Sounds good - the 4X30 is a great size, easy to light and not too dominating in a living room but lots of space to aqua scape.

As for the ban....I'll PM as its prob best "Off air"

Wow! They look a lot bigger in the tank. Really fills the space nicely.

Not much happening right now....few things though:

Moved all the fish out of the frag tank and into other parts of the sump as the giga nem is swelling up BIG and i was a bit worried it may eat them! Right now the only fish in there are some new "onxy" Percs...not sure if i like them yet, hoping they may blacken up like my old onxy did, if not i may use my commons in the display with the giga and leave the percs in the frag tank (the frag tank will become the rose nem slice and dice centre so a pair of clowns in there will be fine)

New percs and giga:

My old percs - hope the new ones look like this in time (mikey...any hope?)

Added a habistat pulse - i have been controlling my heat by switching the heater on at 10pm and off at 9am on a timer.....now its getting colder at night the swing is too much so using this and a single 300w (may add another heater as it gets colder)

Main sump is getting busy Plenty of room and huge flow in there though so all are happy. Got most of the fish in there apart from the percs, the juv commons, the pair of helfrich and the pair of yashas - they are in other sections on their own.

and film (mind your neck)

Not much to update. Got the first of the two halides up and took some pics

(dont worry - the halide will be hung a bit neater than this!)

Plumbed two overflows from the weir and two returns from the sump room.

Done LOADS of tidying up in the sump room, pics when its finished tommorow...95% of plumbing done now.

Next step - fill display, sort water levels then loop to sump and cross fingers

Not much room left under there......managed to squezze in the halide balast

Did you decide to go with just the one island? Looks like you have more space that way...

Can't wait to see this running either...

Assume rock work. I'm looking at duplicating it in my 125. I have one question though. How did you attach the vertical pieces of eggcrate to the horizontal pieces? Thanks

I just cable tie (zip tied) them at right angles - once the rock was added and also zip tied and then the foam added they held the egg crate perfect - you do need to make sure the right angle IS held while you work though - if the rocks being added shoves it out of shape (and it will) then you foam you are stuck with it - so i worked with lots of things to prop up the various bits to hold it all square.

Wish i could update some more but i am so busy with work i havent moved on much! However, my sump system is now full of great fish ready to go in the display....highlights of my stock list:

Sargassum Trigger, Black Tang, Rhomboid Wrasse, Hawaiian Flame Wrasse, Mystery Wrasse, Blue Spot Jawfish, Onxy Percs in s. Gigantea, Yasha Gobies, Dispar anthias, etc

In the UK it is VERY hard to build up a list like that because we never get those fish normally. The costs seem to work out the same as taking the US dollar price and double it for a UK pound price.....and as the pound is worth double the dollar that hurts! Anyway, i am very pleased to have tracked them down

I think this re-design of the aquascape fits the tank perfectly and opens the look of the tank. Can't wait to see it stocked and operational. Thanks for sharing and keep us posted.
