Red face my 65 gallon tank =]

hi! im quite new to this forum but here is my first ever 65 gallon tank with the help of my boyfriend!!

recently dictyota has been growing on the rock like crazyyy

you cant see the fish since they enjoy hidding in the rock (sobs)

i have:
2 jumping jack
1 male lyretail anthias
2 female lyretail anthias
1 benjai cardinal (one mysteriously vanished)
1 copperband butterfly
2 turbosnails
and hitchhickers that came on the live rock such as sea hares and nudibranches hahah =]

ohhh! also what is this? is it a worm or wuuuhhh?? haha sorry in advanced if its a stupid question. i saw it recently in the tank:

ill post more pics later heheh

so what do you think?

Welcome!!! I can't tell what that is from the picture. If it is a worm, it's a long one!

More flow fast and some CUC with sandsifters on top.More LR will help also. If you dont have a test kit then pls get one.Very important. Also best to keep ggod balance with coral stock and CUC. Speghatti worm look here. http://home2.pacific.net.ph/~sweetyu...itchworms.html

Looks more like snail spawn (kind of like a string of tiny pearls?) than a spaghetti worm. Spaghetti worms are very very thin, with multiple feeder 'strings' emanating from a center spot.

Looks like you are off to a fine start. Algae blooms are completely expected in a brand new tank.

zotzer: thanks! i agree w/ it being eggs, probably from the turbo snails? hmm idk. but my boyfriend thought it might be eggs rather than a worm since he didnt find a similar picture in the invertebrate books we have.

demonsp: thanks for the advice :]! i have test kits and the phosphate, nitrite and nitrate levels are at 0, salinity, aklinity, and calcium are at good levels too so everything is good. been wanting to get some coral and zoanthids also but hawaii is so strict on that kinda stuff :[ boo hoo.

nicholas89: thanks!! im glad someone likes it! im beginning to like it alot too. i had no idea how hard it would be to aquascape. the LR we got was really hard to work with in terms of making a nice aquascape.

have you ever considered that the benjai cardinal that dissapeared may have fallen victim to a rogue mantis shrimp?

i dont have a rouge mantis shrimp.
but um actually it was probably attacked by the anthias, got sucked into the pipes, and left dead in the refigium (where it was found dead just yesterday) sob.

twz: cool :] have fun!
