heard of catalina pumps?

they are a lot cheaper than the other brands. Anyone have any experience with these? I'm thinking about the 2200 or 3000.

thanks

I've actually been using a Catalina 2200 as my return on my 65G for the past 3 years and have never had any problems with it. I also use an 1800 to pump SW from a 275G mixing reservoir in my garage and it handles the 20 ft. distance with ease. For some reason, you'll find a lot of people here on RC that really put down Catalina Aquarium products, but IME (I've used their light fixtures, pumps, heaters and even skimmers) they make a good product. Definitely not competition for some of the high-end brands, but a solid product nonetheless.

I've used catalina and odyssea pump's for years with no problems. I think they are kinda wattage hogs but they work just fine, especially for the price. I even use an odyssea wp100 on my skimmer and it'll pull over 55scfh easily. 55scfh for 39bux is pretty good imo. No startup issues ever. But the wattage is around 80ish. Not the most efficient.

I've been using a CA-4000 as my return without a problem for about 6 months. I also use a CA-3000 to mix salt, and use a CA-1400 to feed my 30 gallon fuge located above my main tank. I also have 3 additional CA-1400 as spare/back up pumps. I think they are great pumps, all things considered.

Customer service is also good. I did happen to have an impeller break and I got a replacement pump sent out as soon as they received my broken pump, no questions asked.

I may buy a light from them in the near future. In short I think they are good products.

p.s. CA pumps are also sold under the name Aqua clear.

I have a light fixture from them, its been running for over a year now and have had no problems from it since I got it. I would go for it.
