With that thinking we should keep cars out of the same area because the of the threat of car bombers.
That's why they call it terror.

Really ... last time I was in Kansas ... wait wait ... I was never in Kansas that must have been Oklahoma All those states look alike

There's a place and time for everything and I'm just saying maybe it's not a great idea'r allowing small aircraft to just merrily fly around metropolitan areas. Especially after 9/11

It's a false sense of security.
And do what with it? In this instance the plane was probably travelling between 120 and 160 mph when it hit the building. It caused a fire that was put out by the fire department in a couple hours. A similar event happened in Tampa shortly after September 11th with the same results: pilot killed, minor damage to the building, no other injuries.

IMO besides airline aircraft nothing small should be allowed to enter highly populated metropolitan airspace, perhaps only with a special 2nd degree license where you have a thorough background check done on the pilot. Otherwise go take your plane and fly it around Kansas... (no offense to Kansanians, just the first open state w.o tall buildings I could think of)
Why? You could do more evil with a van full of ammonium nitrate soaked in fuel oil than you could with an airplane twice this size of the one involved the accident. Perhaps we should require a 2nd degree license with a thorough background check to drive a vehicle in metropolitan areas.

"Perhaps we should require a 2nd degree license with a thorough background check to drive a vehicle in metropolitan areas."

Perhaps we should stop giving away drivers licenses like it is toilet paper?! oh Right the insurance companies wouldn't make enough money to pay off the state lawmakers ...

No duh! you could do more damage with fertilizer and there was a 20/20 about that where college kids went out and bought enough of it in the midwest to blow up an entire bldng. That's a separate issue from airplanes! What do you mean "and do what with it" ... stop having sight seeing tours from a plane in metropolitan areas.

Whatever man you're obviously comfortable with the current situation of the nation ...

I don't think more stringent driver licensing would have stopped Karl Armstrong, Tim McVeigh or Ramzi Yousef.

You said "a terrorist can simply hi-jack a sight seeing plane" and I responded "and do what with it?" A terrorist could kill more people by hijacking a bus, as this and other small-aircraft-versus-building scenarios have demonstrated.

I think there's a lot wrong with our current situation, "man." Getting killed by a terrorist hijacking a sightseeing helicopter just isn't very high on that list.

If there's another terrorist attack like September 11th do you want to know how it will happen? If you have the money to charter a flight you go through zero security. You can charter a 757 tomorrow and there's nothing to stop you from walking right on with a submachine gun, and the only other people on board will be the flight crew.
