That's good to know. I've been using ipowerweb.com for years now, and they really do a good job.

Thanks.

I'd bet against you, dazed. That's the problem with this hobby. We tend to spend too much time tinkering and not enough time enjoying.

The Dude is loses that bet. I love looking at my tank, and because I have a huge wall mirror in my living room I can sit and watch the reflection and reflect on its beauty. (Too flowery a statement? )

TDS Meter

Phil or anyone else looking for a cheap tds meter...here's a link to a thread Harry over in the Alabama reefers club posted. I ordered mine the other day so it should be in sometime next week.

FREE TDS METER

If you have any experience with one of these Marc, please let me know. These may not be good, but for free it is worth a shot!

I got a few of them from Woot several months ago. They aren't as reliable or dependable, so that is why I have them here as future prizes for any contests I might dream up. You can't complain about something free, right?

Marc,

It has been a while since I have read your thread. I see that your humor is about the same.

Steven, as I stated before, the number isn't as important as how fast it recovers after feeding, water changes, etc.

I would expect a tank not running ozone to be in the low 300's.

Example: Lets say your ORP reading is sitting at 300. You feed your fish and the ORP drops to 260. From my experience, your ORP should recover within 4 to 6 hrs or so.

Example #2: Lets say your ORP is at 300. You do a 20% water change and the ORP drops to 250 or so. (Very normal as the ORP of newly mixed salt water is about 220 mv.) I would expect the ORP to be back up to 300 within 8 to 12 hrs or so.

Back to Marcs' Starfire.

The "free" TDS meters are no longer available. My club recently got into the "free" frenzy online and shortly after they were labeled as "currently not available from the manufacturer." Someone caught on..

Phil's tank is sharp.
