A warning to everyone that trades on this or other boards!!
Do yourself a favor and make sure that you spring for signature confirmation and Insurance. Legally the item that you are selling or trading is still yours during delivery, only when it is in the hands of the buyer is it legally theirs. All kinds of fraud goes on based on this fact. I have had this happen twice this year. Someone will say that they never received the item but magically the usps says the item was delivered and the person does not live in a high crime area.
I just had an interesting scenario where a person I was negotiating over a price on here backed out because they did not feel comfortable with the signature confirmation or the insurance. They claimed that someone sent them a broken item and then cashed in at the post office. Has this happened to anyone else? I wonder how common it is? I'm not sure how signature confirmation or insurance is going to be any less safe then someone trading without it. I mean if the item is broken upon arrival the person gets there money back. I think they were trying to scam me honestly. |

I've never had a problem that way. But a lot of people work so they're not around to sign. I know I sent a computer to my son and he never made it to pick it up and I got it back.
I've also tracked packages that said delivered and were not here. They weren't even delivered anywhere, so it's iffy either way.

Not sure if i am remembering correctly, but i think the sender/seller gets the insurance if the product gets there damaged. It is then up to the seller to either refund the money to the buyer or replace the item. I'm not certain.
I think i recall someone posting a couple years ago about buying a fairly expensive used skimmer and getting hosed on the deal. Something along the lines of: Insured skimmer for $1000 which was around retail cost when new. Sold the skimmer for $400. Destroyed in transit. Seller recieved $1000 for the insured item. Refunded the $400 back to the buyer. Buyer has ended up even (though skimmerless), seller ended up $600 ahead (also skimmerless).
