Recommend a camera

I am just getting into the photography side of this hobby, and my 2 megapixel digital doesn't hack it.

Is there a decent digital you might recommend that won't cost me an arm and a leg. I can deal with losing one but not both

It all depends on what you think an arm (or a leg) would cost you LOL
There's a lot of different options, depending on how badly you want to get into photography. I personally have lost all my limbs and am working on my organs...
You can get an advanced point and shoot (like a canon s3) or you can go for a DSLR which is what a lot of us here have, they're great but expensive and you have to understand at least the basics of photography to use them (well) Let us know you're price range and I'm sure there will be plenty of suggestions.

If it was me I would look at the used DSLR market. There are alot of nice packages that you can get for a decent price. I found mine on craigslist. Cannon 6.3 rebel stock lens, 70-300 macro lens, external flash, 2 batteries and 2 1GB memory cards for 500. IMHO thats the way to go if you can deal with used.
