avatar

I'm trying to add a personal avatar and it is driving me and my girlfriend crazy. We are computer literate, her more so than me. First it asked to make it 150pixelsX150. I did that and now it wants it under 8192 mb. I can't make this happen. I have a Mac if this helps. Help!!! Thanks Tim

Well, it can be done. If you post the pic you want to use here, some helpful person will resize it for you so it works. We have some really, really helpful folks around here.

Go to www.photobucket.com

Make an account

Upload the desired picture to the album but next to upload there is a link called options. Click it and it gives you the size you want to upload it as (Avatar size, Thumbnail size, regular size, etc...)

Click avatar size upload and it automatically resizes the image to fit. Use the second link down (Direct link) and copy that address into the field under your custom avatar setting and it should work.

This is how i do mine.

I did as you said and RC says That image is too large. The maximum dimensions are 150 by 150 pixels.

The Photobucket says max image size 100x75.

What am I doing wrong?

So what IS the trick?

The pixel dimensions are easy, but even if I save as a quality of 1 (out of 10) in Photoshop, the picture is still like 32k, and so fuzzy it almost isn't useable. Frustrating!

I kept having the same problem until I noticed that you must click on avatar.

My avatar was fuzzy for months, then I discovered by accident that I hadn't clicked on avatar.

mbbuna, I'll check out the links, thanks. I did try selecting avatar size at Photobucket, but RC still rejected that as too big a file size.

To resize photo with mac (leopard ) first go to iphoto click to highlight photo you want then go to Export in File top left of screen, under Kind you go to or change to jpeg, proceed to choose quality of photo (Lower quality less bytes) then go to size and pick medium or what ever you would like hit export and when you are choosing photo to say go to photobucket (or just emailing) it should pop up in your pictures cat when you hit browse to attach file .If it dosen't show up in pic you can move it to pics in your file upload. Hope this helps
