An observation on being a captive fish

My tank was very clear from a same-day turkey basting and mag-cleaning and I went to feed my tank tonight as usual. The lights had just switched to "evening" and everyone came to the front glass as I sat down for a few moments of daily observation/introspection, with all inhabitants ready for the evening meal...

I thought intially "you beggars!" as they anxiously swam back and forth in front of me.

and they looked at me as I looked at them...

and they drew me in...

and I "looked" at the space they live in, as they looked at me, to see what THEY see BEYOND just ME...

And I turned around...

with the back of my head to the glass...

to see what my small captives look at 24 hours a day...

and I was stumped...

...

Is a safer, longer life better than a truer life?

?
