Thumbs up Dougs Custom 40 gallon Rimless

I'm starting this thread for my buddy Doug who pokes around RC but doesn't post much. He has probably the coolest nano setup (equipment wise) that I have ever seen so I wanted to show it off. He started with a JBJ 24 gallon and me being the good friend I am talked him into blowing way to much money on the new setup.
The whole concept of this build was to fit a tank on top of a really nice piece of furniture that he bought. The tank was made by SoCal Creations (RIP SoCal ) and is 30"x17"x18". Its rimless and made from 3/4" acrylic with an external overflow. Super sexy
For lights we wanted a sleek look so we went with some T-5's that we hung from the ceiling. The sump is a Berlin BS-1 and does a nice job of holding the Euroreef RS80 skimmer. The return pump is a Eheim 1262 and is split by a SCWD wavemaker that delivers water to the top left, and bottom right returns. Most of the water movement in the tank is done by a Tunze nano 6025. All of this is ran by a Reef keeper 2.

On to the pics....

If your familiar with the red cap in my tank this is where it came from. We took it out of his old nano because it was starting to bleach. Doug's new setup is starting to bring back the frags left behind on the rock.

What a nice set-up.

Did you elongate the neck of the RS-80 or is it normally that tall?

Sounds like the only thing your tanks have in common is they hold water.

He got it from Living Spaces. He had to do a lot of reinforcing to it. He stained a couple 2x4s and put them inside to make it solid. The drawers still work.
