Unknown but sweet lookin

I dont know what this is but i am leaning tward a sponge of sorts. if anyone knows or has any ideas i would love to hear it. this thing is growing no less than 8 inches away from T5 lights so i duno if that makes a difference or not....
whatever it is it has grown about 6 times its original size in a month and a half so its happy..[IMG][/IMG] it grew from that to this in a month and a half[IMG][/IMG]

I believe the first pic is Halymenia (sp?) algae. Pops up in my tank from time to time. Pretty stuff and easy to control with manual pruning. Tangs love it.

That is definitly one of the coolest looking hitchhikers Ive seen in quite some time. Is baicly like water filled vessicals? Or is it like a macro algae? Pretty neat whatever it is. Any tangs in the tank??

Nope no tangs, just a lawnmower blenny, bangaii cardinal, and two blue chromis. so its an algae? sweet would have never guessed!

Yes, it is commonly referred to as Dragon's Breath.

Not around my parts. The only time I have heard of that reference is when some one from Texas sent me a sample.

That explains it. People in Texas told me that name.

Okay, I ammend my post. It's a pretty red algae.

Gresham, do you also know it as Halymenia sp.?

Thats actually one of the harder to keep macro algaes around... so good going. I try to keep it in my refugium, but it cant even compete with chaeto or the 'tang heaven' algae in there. It is 'tang candy' though...

I've had it in my nano for the last few months, and I think it is holding strong. You can see it in these pictures.
