does anyone here use a plenum system.
If so what are the advantages and disadvantages of one

A deep sand bed will work just as well, and less complicated. Sand bed from 4-5 inches will be good.

ditto a deep sand bed is alot simpler...

Lots of info on plenum out there. Just search the forum. A DSB (deep sand bed) is not for a reef tank per se (not with the water turnover numbers that average tanks achieve). You can get more info on DSB here.
