Unfortunately, it seems like every vaguely anemone-like picture that gets posted here is either immediately labeled Aiptasia if it's brownish or majano if it's colorful, regardless of whether it's actually an anemone or not. Anemones and hard corals have symmetry in multiples of 6. This little guy appears to have 8 part symmetry, which would make it a soft coral. Of course there's the possibility that it's a mutant, but that's not the most likely explanation. I would let it grow and see what it becomes.

I agree with greenbean on this one for sure. Though he put it all in technical terms, I've seen little daisy polyps and other such small corals pop up with this shape and symmetry. In addion, correct me if I'm wrong, there is a tiny tiny chance that it could be a budded "LPS". Highly doubtful, but I've also seen little Euphyllia bud off the main branches with a similar shape, but it doesn't resemble it as much as some of the "polyps" I've seen.

Initially, I thought it looked like a color-morphed merletti as well, but other opinions convinced me otherwise. We will see, even if its a majano or aiptasia there is nothing it can hurt for now.
Thanks again!!!

I love greenbean's answers to questions like this. Telling why a critter is or is not something helps everyone reading it, and hopefully will reduce the usual number of "nuke it now" posts for almost every unknown that gets posted here. Thanks!
