Phosphate Reactor help

Newest toys to go on the tank.


Not sure if this is how they will stay. Haven't decided where I want the outputs to go.



1 for Phosphate remover and 1 for carbon




Any guidance on how much flow? Should the phosphate remover be in the water column or just "bubbling"? They have Maxi Jet 600s on them. The carbon is full blast while the phosphate remover is 1/2-3/4 open.

phosphate material should just barely appear to be boiling at the surface. i don't like to tumble my carbon. it will grind down and be released into the tank imo. lower flow allows for longer reaction time.

So maybe turn the carbon down to 3/4?

The reactor comes with pretty specific flow recommendations -- about 70gph, as I recall. This is just about exactly the output of the MJ-400, so you'll have to dial your MJ-600's down by about a third.

I let my carbon move a bit more than seagirl seems to. I actually have both of these reactors running in series on one pump.

i agree with DanInSD. i have the water flow into my carbon reactor then directly into my phosphate reactor b/c carbon can release phos and i don't want it getting into the tank. some people like the carbon to bounce some, just personal preference i ssuppose.
