Kicking that dog. A. blochii?
I've pretty much came to the conclusion that my 3 yr old, 5" Palani tang is A. blochii and just looking for confirmation. Hasn't really changed coloration much since I got him at <2", just a bit more defined in the striping and a bit more vibrant. What do you guys think?
TIA CAReefer

Yup, it's a blochii. You can tell for certain because of the black tail spine, white tail ring, and gray pec fins.
A. xanthopterus has a black tail spine and yellow pec fins, while A. dussumieri has a white tail spine and pec yellow fins. Dussimers also have small patches of yellow at the base of the tail. |

Thanks mile sq. One of the coolest personalities of any fish I've had, that's for sure.
Thanks for the confirmation RGBMatt. I thought that those were the defining markings, black spine and white tail ring. Not very attractive in full adult coloration I must say however. CAReefer

Very nice fish
Here's my 5" tang. I've had him for a year and a half now. The picture is a year old though. Always thought he was a ACANTHURUS BLOCHII but now i'm not really sure what type of tang he is. After being told by others that it's not. |

Let's hope so. I've seen a couple different pics and without a doubt, that's the worst. Thanks again.
