Artica Chiller

I saw an Artica (JBJ) chiller for my 75 for 400.00.!
I have the Artica (JBJ) 1/10 HP on my mind!

I have had VERY poor luck with anything JBJ related.

I wanted to survey any experiences you have had with JBJ chillers!

JBJ Artica chillers are among the quietest on the market. IME and from others, they are very reliable and fairly efficient for what they are.

480 isn't that much, just put it thru your return pump and you'll be fine. I had the 1/10th which i used on a 40 gallon with a 20 gallon sump and I just bought a 1/4. I loved the artica, very quiet and very eficient.

I have the 1/4 on a 110 gal. The best chiller going right now. But you might check on something bigger then a 1/10 because at some point you will upgrade to a larger tank. We all do.

I've had mine for a year now, and I love it. JBJ Arctica 1/10hp.

Just a thought, If you're searching, it's actually spelled arCtica. I noticed it is misspelled in this thread as well... so you'll likely find just as much information searching for the misspelled name as well as the actual name.

just a though. I was in your shoes last year, searching for reviews.

I purchased the 1/2 HP commercial version about a month and a half ago and I love it. I have a 180 w/ 3 250 watt MH in a lightly ventilated hood and my apartment is on the warm side. It keeps my temp at a steady 77 degrees. I chiller turns on for 30 minutes every hour and a half when lights are on and comes on every few hours when lights are off. Really powerful in my opinion. Down side is that it pushes out a lot of heat and unfortunatly I don't have a basement to plum everything to. The noise level is noticably higher then the Artica version of this chiller but its not too bad. Like everything you get use to it. I would compare the noise level to a dehumidifyer.

I have a 1/10 hp running with a Mag 5. It's been great! No problems, very quiet! It does put out some heat like any AC device.

I also have the 1/10hp version. So far so good. I'm using a MAG9.5 on it. It's quiet and keeps the temp very stable. The on board controller is very easy to use and can be calibrated if needed.

As far as I know, Arcatica chiller is made by a very reputable company in Korea. I own 1/10 version for my 58g tank. It is very reliable and quiet.
