Keeping feeder clams alive?
I made my first trip to the Asian Supermarket today -- what an experience!!! I got fresh seafood to feed our 215 FOWLR tank including some live clams. I'm wondering if it's possible or even adviseable to try to keep them alive or should I just go ahead and freeze them for later use? Currently they are in a 5 gallon bucket with saltwater and an airstone.

I imagine you could keep them alive indefinetly but they likely need water much cooler than normal reef conditions. I would think freezing would be the best bet, much safer and definetly more than sanitary then a bucket of dead, stinky clams .
BTW: Where is the market you visited? I see a big pot of clam chowder in my future |

I liked the guy sneezing onto the chicken as he put them on display...
The one Koi is for good luck for the store so don't try and buy it to eat!

I remember when we lived in NY we would go to a port town and pick live lobsters out of a bath tub. We went one time and got one that weighed 20 lbs. It was also one of those places where they throw the fish everywhere. The one thing i remember though were the cats. BIG MEAN tomcats ! They weren't big from sneaking fish they were big from killing rats that tried to sneak fish. The owner said they never had to feed them.
