how much a month, electricity

my mom is saying that my tank has raised the elec. bill a ton... i dont think it has. how much does my tank cost a month?? say elec. is $.10/kw.

i am running:

240w pc lighting(8 hours a day)
20w maxijet
8.5w rio
???w fluval 404
100w heater
???w rio 2100 (670 some gph)
42w pc bulb for refug(run it 24/7)


anyone have any idea. any help appreciated so i can prove my mom wrong... i dont this is costing $40 a month...

My electric bill went up 25 dollars after starting my 55 gallon.

multiply the watts by how long it is on and add them all up, then divide the total by 1000 and then multiply it times you electricity cost .10 cents in your case. As for the heater it is probally hardly ever on.

My 280 gallon cost's me $140 a month in electricity.

with 2x250 ice caps and 1 400 watt ice cap, and this could be the stupidest of stupid questions. that wattage rating is per hour ... correct?? on my Artica 1/3 hp chiller. it doesnt list the wattage. how do you figure that?. Here is equipment listed below

I have a 1/3 hp JBJ. its on about 3 hrs per day
2x250 watt icecap halides.. 19 hrs total on time (2x9.5)
1x400 icecap...(5 hrs on)
2x55 watt actinic (12 hrs)
1-iwaki 55rlt (24/7) 1 mag 7 feed to chiller (24/7) mag 5 feed to skimmer(24/7) Eheim 1260 on Deltec skimmer (24/7)
2x6100 tunze( 24x7 variable)
1x6000 tunze (24x7 variable)

Ours went up $75 a month for a bowl reef.

j/k It went up around $70 to run all the tanks I have.

about 1000watts an hour; 12 hours a day; thats 12kw a day. if your paying somewhere in the realm of 10-15cents per kW. your a long ways from 100$ on lights...

at most its like 1.80 a day; which is around 50 a month.

How do you calculate if you are using 240volt for lights, pumps, and chiller?

Your looking between 20-30 a month for what you have.
In the winter probably slightly higher.

The heater usage makes the variably. I am not sure how often it comes on in your tank.

Not sure how much you use but my tanks have my bill up near $450 a month . Before the tanks it was around 200 a month

I am running a total of 7- 250 watt MH HQI ballasts, 4 vho, 4 96 watt pcs, 8 heaters variying from 100 watts to 500 watts, 4 Tunze streams, 3 euro reef type skimmers ,dolphin ampmaster , and tons of other pumps and things . No chillers.

My bill went up $25 when I set up my tank, 130w PC a MJ-600, 2 HOB power filters & 150w heater.

For what I want to do with my 75g it will only cost $22 a month. But power is only 0.7 a KW here.
