Hagen PH test kit off the scale!

Hi all,

I dont test my PH very often. I did today and the color is a purple. It is off the scale. Does anyone know what the PH reading is using a Hagen PH test kit when you get to the purple hues?

I use the haugen test kit also..I usually get the 8.1 bluegreen and the 8.3 blue. I don't recall ever seeing anything in the booklets to indicate a purple color. Do you have the master kit? Make sure you are using the high ph chemicals and booklets, I am not sure about your kit but mine has both low and high ph stuff.

Hagen recommends you use natural light also.

You may want to also take a sample of your water into the LFS so that they can measure it with a probe. This way you will be able to see how far off of reality your test kit is.

Thanks guys.

It was a dark blue. Over the scale. I used a vinegar to bring it down and now purple, so I dont know where I stand now.

I am going to look for someone with a probe.
