I'm glad there were some survivors. That was depressing.
I hope you are rid of the pests, wouldn't that be a silver lining! Keep us posted.

Some of my zoas that were on rocks look like they may survive and of course the stinking colony polyps are just fine.

how is your ammonia testing? even with the cycling additive, i can't get mine to come down.

I have not tested it.But I'm going with only 20 gallons of original water. And I also have a snail that lived.

I kept maybe 30 gallons of the original water and then did another water change today and removed all but 25 gallons of the "new" water. Ammonia is still testing at 3.5. Nitrate = 0, Nitrite = 0. I am pulling my hair out. Plus, now my calcium is through the roof (550) and alk is low (5). Haven't added any supplements. I think my salt mix might be part of the problem
I desperately need some snails, but I'm afraid to add anything with the ammonia so high. |

What salt are you using?

Coralife. I ran out of salt as I was doing massive water changes during the ice storm, and it was the only thing that the PetSmart in Owasso had. I've purchased some Tropic Marin since then, but I was thinking I'd use up all the Coralife before switching over.

Coralife is super high in calcium. Also get ready for massive amounts of salt creep. How much of the salt do you have left? Some people mix coralife with other salts to raise up the calc. some.
