Anyone use Locline?

Ok, I need some advice based upon someone's experience with using locline.

I'm planning on having my closed loop and sump return lines feed into the tank through locline and locline nozzles. The locline will only be in the tank.

Proposed Plan (90 gal, 3'x2'x2')

Sump return
- Mag 9.5, estimated 700gph at 5 ft of head.
- 1" PVC --> 3/4" Locline valve --> 3/4 to 1/2" wye --> 2 sets locline sockets and nozzle.

Closed Loop (around top of tank)
- Mag 12, estimated 1100 gph at 2 ft of head.
- 1.5" PVC --> 1.5" to 1" Tee --> 1" PVC loop --> 4 1" Tees --> 1" to 3/4 reducer --> 3/4 to 1/2" wye --> 2 sets locline sockets and nozzle.

So......will I get decent flow with this proposed design? Or do I need to go to 1/4" or 3/4" locline instead of the 1/2"?

Any input would be welcomed.

I use the 3/4 on my closed loop & it works fine except the salt creep buildup. Just use the same size LockLine as the rest of your plumbing, should be fine IMO.

I have 2x1/2" locline in each corner of my tank that I run off a mag 9.5. I use one "jet" and one "fan" tip on each side. The jet just barely crosses the middle of my 36" wide tank. So, I think it should work well for you.

Looks good, but try to limit the amount of loc line that you use if you can. It really reduces flow, especially those fan tips and nozzles.

There is a pic of mine. You can see that they leak. I also don't think reducing to (2) 1/2 is better then a single 3/4". I think it is a good idea to include other places that you can add nozzles and such. As your corals grow, you can modify the flow to better suit the enviroment by adding another nozzle. My current tank is less than a year old, and I needed to add a nozzle. Luckily I had the t alread installed with a cap. I just removed the cap and installed another nozzle.

yeah, that's exactly how mine looked on my little nano I setup last year.

it doesn't leak like in drops, but it'll seep out really slow and probably evaporate before it drips anywhere, thus the salt creep.

if you goto into the modularhose / locline forum, there's a thread about the pressure it can take before it really starts leaking.

Hopefully a helpful hint...

You can add clear vinyl tubing to the end of the locline if it's suspended above the tank. Like so...

...and then adjust it so the vinyl just barely goes beneath the surface.

Assuming you aren't blasting water through at really high pressure/velocity, you don't get any bubbles sucked in. I have two of these off a Mag 7.

Interesting......not even locline showing. I think I'll try that. Is that 3/4 locline?
